Beauty Fuels: Hot Pepper

Ever wonder what makes a hot pepper spicy? An ingredient called Capsaicin that also happens to trigger a reaction in your body that increases hair growth. But don’t go rubbing jalepenos on your scalp just yet.

The beneficial effects of Capsaicin are most effective when ingested – good news for spice lovers.

One delicious way to add more pepper to your diet is with homemade chili oil. Heat ½ cup of good organic olive oil in a sauce pan with chili flakes, hot paprika and cayenne pepper for about 1 hour allowing the flavors to infuse the oil. Then, let cool and strain into a glass bottle. Sprinkle liberally on everything from pizzas to scrambled eggs.
